Trans and Gender Diverse Open Training Session

Last Monday (April 10, 2023), MUWFC was delighted to host an open training, specifically for trans and gender diverse people. We welcomed all players, of any age and skill level down to University Main Oval to join us for a kick and some drills as we prepared for Round 1.

We trained as one club, with all three teams coming together to welcome any new players. It was a joy to see some new faces get their hands on a footy. At the conclusion of training, despite the dreary weather, the post match BBQ was hit with players raising $133. This was donated to Transcend Australia.

In the week since, it has been wonderful to see some of those new faces stick around. We acknowledge that it has been an exceptionally challenging few months for our trans and gender diverse friends, and we want to reiterate our position as a supportive, inclusive and welcoming space to be in.

Thanks to the MUWFC Advisory Committee for creating this initiative, and for the work you put in to see it to fruition. Thank you to all the people who came down to have a kick with us for the first time last Monday, and please come back any time! Whether you're pulling on the boots to take to the field, or filling one of our essential game day volunteer roles, we love having you around, and hope you enjoy being part of the Mugars family.
