MUWFC Presentation Night 2022

With the year coming to a close, it is the perfect time to reflect on the incredible night we had celebrating our 2022 season in September. With over 100 people, including current & former players, coaches, volunteers and many life members, we reflected on the year and highlighted some of the incredible achievements of our club.

Life Membership - Reens & Lou

We celebrated the induction of two Life Members MUFC - Erini (Reens) Gianakopoulos and Leah (Lou) Caluzzi.

Reens joined the club in 2000, donning jumper 15. Although her games count is currently a bit of a mystery, we know she was a part of the 2005 Premier Division VWFL side.

A wonderful playing career, but it is her coaching, and on field commitment that has seen this nomination arise. She has led the club to 2 premierships; 2003 with the VWFL Division 2 side, and in 2018 with the VAFA Premier side.

Reens has led the club as Head Coach across the past 3 years (2020 being a non-playing year), seeing all three teams finish as minor premiers in the incomplete 2021 season, being recognised as Coach of the Year by Melbourne University Sport and VAFA Premier B Women’s Coach of the Year, leading the team to also be awarded Team Performance of the Year by Melbourne University Sport, and also recognised as the team of the year in VAFA Premier B Women’s.

Everything she has brought to the club as a coach, she brought to MUWFC long before, and MUWFC would not be the same without her. She has been a mentor to many of the MUWFC coaches across the years, and supported people more than we will ever know. She is well and truly deserving of a Life Membership to the MUFC.
