Like many of our coaches and staff who were on board for the 2020 season before its cancellation, we are excited to announce our Strength and Conditioning Lead Abbey Watts and Lead Trainer Teghan Kerr for 2021!
Abbey joined the MUWFC community in 2019 and is one of the resident Strength and Conditioning coaches at MUWFC's High Performance Partner, Motus Life. For the last couple of years, Abbey has worked in athletic development with a range of athletes, from youth to high performance.
"The biggest growth I have seen working with athletes has come from empowering them with knowledge and understanding of everything they do with me on the field and in the gym. There are many facets of sport performance, and if my athletes are well educated, comfortable to ask questions and trust me then I am putting them in the best position to succeed.
"I love being a part of the MUWFC community because it fosters such a great environment. The coaching staff bring such extensive knowledge and experience, and work collaboratively to ensure that every athlete is well prepared and supported on and off the field."
Teghan has been with MUWFC since 2019, working with our VAFA and former VFLW teams, run in conjunction with the North Melbourne Football Club.
She has a background in biomedical science and is approaching the end of her Osteopathy degree in 2021. She has always loved football, and has found it to be an integral part of her life. While not one to play herself, she supports teams at every level.
"I’m passionate about education, and having the knowledge and experience of staff and players passed on to me, and vice versa, is a satisfying aspect of the job.
"I’m looking forward to working with the aforementioned staff, and of course the players, to help a strong team of womxn reach their football goals. Can’t wait to be involved in MUWFC’s 25th year!"
Welcome back, Abbey and Teghan!
Stay tuned for more news as we get closer to (pre) season 2021! In the meantime, you can register your interest to play here.
