Introducing... Our Seniors Coaches!

Continuing our 2021 coaching announcements, we are excited to introduce our Seniors co-coaches, Erini ‘Reens’ Gianakopoulos and Martha Cantwell.

Martha has seven years of teaching experience, which has complemented her ability to coach, develop and build positive working relationships with her players.

Her approach to footy and life is a balance between fun and hard work, with an understanding of the importance of both. A growth mindset is what she instils in and asks of her players, recognising that there are always opportunities to learn and improve. 

Martha has over ten years combined playing and coaching experience. Most recently, in 2019, she coached the Maroochydore Roos in the QWAFL, whom she led to their first finals series in three years after finishing the previous season win-less. She then moved back to Melbourne, where she was a part of the Calder Cannons NAB League coaching group and returned to MUWFC to coach the Seniors team, all while finding the time to lead the Melbourne Uni Nationals team to an undefeated premiership.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to be working with MUWFC during their 25th anniversary and can’t wait to see what the season holds for the club, players, staff and broader community. It’s a big year for us and, like others, I can’t wait to get started. How great is it going to be when we can get to work - bring on the pre-season!"
