MUWFC warmly invites all it’s community members, and anyone who is interested in keeping fit over the off-season to join us for Run Club! Run Club will be held on Saturday mornings at 9:30am starting on the 4th of November. We will alternate a running session at Princes Park (meeting at the light post on Crawford Oval) and a gym session at Motus (Stubbs Street Kensington). |

Both the running and the gym sessions have been designed by our high performance partner Motus and are a sure fire way to keep fit over the off-season and come into pre-season ready to go! The Princes Park running sessions are free of charge, however the Motus gym sessions will cost $15 per session, payable upon entry. This charge covers the cost of the S&C coach that will be taking you through the gym session. Following each session we invite everyone to meet for brunch to re-fuel and debrief. We look forward to seeing you there! |

This year our Pre-Christmas training block will be an Elite Skills Clinic. This program will run for 6 weeks on a Thursday night at the Melbourne University Hockey Pitch at 6:30pm. The program will be facilitated by our Head Coach, Gwynney. We highly recommend you make the time to come down as we will be covering everything from kicking, to marking, to contest work, and positioning. This program is open to all skill levels and we encourage new players as well as seasoned players to come down. These sessions aim to take your football fundamentals to the elite level and will provide the foundations for when pre-season officially kicks off in January. |

MUWFC is delighted to have appointed Colleen Gwynne as our senior head coach in 2024. ‘Gwynney’ has been a force to be reckoned with in the women’s football world, trailblazing the path for women to play football in the NT as both a player and a coach, and playing a pivotal role in coaching the Adelaide Crows to the inaugural AFLW premiership. More recently, Gwynny has worked with MUWFC the past 2 years, and helped coach the senior team to finals in 2022. MUWFC players are certainly working hard in the off-season so that they can impress her when they return! If you’d like to hear more about how we secured Gwynny’s signature, feel free to ask her about the odd selection of places where our president, Maddy Noack, just ‘happened’ to run into her... |

MUWFC is excited to announce that Bek Dee will continue on as our Reserves Head Coach in 2024. Bek has quickly become a much loved figure around the club, and has brought enthusiasm and as a sense of fun in addition to excellent football knowledge to our club. Bek works tirelessly for her ressies, and we love the way she makes each and every one of her players feel loved and valued not just for what they bring on field, but also off field. Bek did an amazing job in both her role as coach and mental health support person this year, and we are so happy to have her back on board! We can’t wait for her to continue to slay in season 2024. |

Mary Chenacci Award - Best Clubperson It is only thanks to the tireless work of volunteers that MUWFC can continue to lead the way in women's football. The Mary Chenacci Best Club Person award recognises these people. Mary was the first president of MUWFC (1997-1998) and the award aims to recognise an individual who captures the same selfless, club-orientated qualities Mary displayed in the formative years of the Club.

Maddy Noack Maddy commenced the 2023 season as Head of Football Operations, and in June stepped up into the big shoes of the MUWFC Presidency. She stepped up in a huge way, and has worked tirelessly to continue to develop an environment that encourages elite football whilst remaining an inclusive space for everyone. One of her favourite sayings is ‘once a Mugar, always a Mugar’ and this holds true in all she does for our club. In 2023 Maddy has faced challenges one would not expect to face as a volunteer at a community club, and managed through it all. As a club, we cannot thank Maddy enough for the work she does for us both on field as ‘Noack’, and off field as ‘Maddy’. |

Penelope Green Award - Volunteer Excellence The 38th woman to represent the MUWFC, Penny was a selfless contributor to the Club, a member of the Club’s first ever finals team and the captain of the inaugural 3rd team in 2003. She pulled on the black and blue in 124 games from 1998 to 2006. In addition to her lengthy playing career, Penny also fulfilled almost every voluntary position possible. She brought her intellect, critical thinking and attention to detail to every one of her roles, and had a significant impact on the Club’s foundation and sustainability. Penny was awarded a Life Membership to MUWFC in 2006 and this award was announced in 2018, for implementation in the 2019 season. Sadly, Penny passed in November 2018 after a long battle with illness. This award remembers Penny, rewards her significant contribution to the club and the legacy she left behind.

Caitlin Rae In her third year as a volunteer at MUWFC, Caitlin worked as our Reserves Team Manager, and our Mental Health Support Person. So much of Caitlin’s work helping our players through their mental health journeys goes unnoticed, except for the outcome of creating a safer space for all at the club. She has worked so hard for the three years she has been a Mugar, and we love the energy, kindness, and generosity she brings to her roles. We love seeing Caitlin’s work shine and she is such a deserving recipient of this prestigious award in 2023. Thank you Caitlin! |

Michelle Dench Award - Seniors Best and Fairest
|
Frances Walsh Franny is in her 3rd year at MUWFC and in 2023 has won her second consecutive Michelle Dench B&F. Franny is an inside midfielder who plays with huge heart and every single week lifts her team by laying strong tackles and winning impossible contested football. She also has elite disposal efficiency and moves the ball intelligently from inside to outside with ease. Franny is very humble, and we are so fortunate to have her playing for MUWFC for not just her talent but her attitude to football and life. We can't wait to see what she achieves in the coming years. |

Reserves Best and Fairest

Eden Fletcher In her first year at MUWFC, Eden has improved in leaps and bounds, and in doing so wins our 2023 Reserves and Thirds Best and Fairest! Eden has elite speed, knows how to find the football and bursts from a pack with the best of them. She works incredibly hard to improve her football, and has an innate ability to work cohesively with her teammates to move the ball forward. We are so proud of her achievements this year and are looking forward to continuing to have Eden play in the black and blue and see just how far she can take her football - if she continues on her trajectory so far, the sky is the limit! Congratulations Eden! |

Alysia Turnbull Leash is one of our most experienced Mugars, and we truly value and appreciate the knowledge, wisdom, and enthusiasm she brings to the club. Leash played her final* season at MUWFC this year, and her leadership, willingness to always help the players around her to learn the game, and advocacy for her teammates is something that has earned her everyone’s respect, gratitude, as well as the inaugural thirds spirit award! Leash has a keen football brain and the passion to match, and we believe she will make an incredible coach in years to come… *we are hoping to convince her otherwise |
